Beatrix Hoffmann-Ihde is currently researching the history and transformation of the material and immaterial culture of the Apalai (Brazil), Tiriyó/Trio (Brazil/Suriname) and Wayana (Brazil, Suriname and French Guyana) in collaboration with members of indigenous communities. The research is based on both current evidence and documents preserved in European museums, collections and archives. Closely linked to this is another field of research: the further development and testing of participatory and collaborative formats of museum anthropology, especially for exhibition practice and collection research.
