We would like to congratulate BCDSS Principal Investigator Prof. Dr. Wolfram Kinzig on being awarded the Giuseppe Alberigo Award 2024 of the European Academy of Religion for his forthcoming book A History of Early Christian Creeds.
This book focuses on the history of early Christian creeds and provides an up-to-date account of their origin and development from the credal texts of the New Testament to the fully-fledged classical formulae of the 4th century. The publication also explores the themes of asymmetrical dependency. In particular, an extensive chapter focuses on councils and creeds as a means of controlling the clergy (by the synods) and the whole church (by the emperors). The book is expected to be published on the first of July.
