Eat & Drink
Hello everyone! :) I know how difficult it is to find a nice place, where you can eat good and budget friendly... We all had the same struggle. We will show you our choices and recommendations. I hope they will serve you well!
The Mensa by Klaudia İnanç
Hello! :) Are you hungry and you don’t know any place where you can eat in Bonn, yet? I have a great suggestion for you! You can try Mensa. There are a few locations where you can find this canteen. For me the most convenient is the Mensa at Hofgarten, but you can check which suits you the best through the application – Mensaplan1. It will help you find which location is the closest to you :) Besides that you can check menu for the whole week and decide whether you want to go!
Important! You cannot pay with cash.
You can pay with your Mensa Card
If you are around Hofgarten you can get your Mensa Card here: Studierendenwerk Bonn (see the map below).
When you receive your card, you need to insert some cash, so that you will be able to pay in canteen. You will find the machine in the building, or in the Mensa at Hofgarten. You can pay with your debit or credit card. Remember to bring your Student ID with you, so you can get food for discounted prices.
Gaststatte Schatulle by Klaudia İnanç
I know how difficult it is to find a place with good food. If you live in Römerlager, this place should be especially valuable to you! I discovered the place thanks to my friend who lives in this dormitory, she introduced me to this cozy place! :) Let’s talk a little more about the food there. We ordered a variety of dishes, so we could try many and were not disappointed. You can also see from the photo, that the portions will satisfy even a big eater ;) The service is also very friendly! You will want to stay longer to just chitchat with the owner. It’s also a good place to practice your German.
Enjoy!
Café Nova by Klaudia İnanç
Looking for a cozy place where you can have a brunch before shopping? I found the perfect place for you! It’s centrally located, just minutes from many clothing stores, and serves delicious food! The dishes are also quite large, so I’m sure your stomach will be satisfied :) You have many options starting from Shakshouka (where you can add toppings to your liking!) and delicious bagels. And you can see both of them on the photos, just before they disappeared! There’s also a list of desserts, but last time I was too full to eat them :( But I will give it a try next time, you should too!
You can find it here: Bottlerplatz 6, 53111 Bonn
Bönnsch by Klaudia İnanç
Wandering in the center, checking out shopping places, grocery shopping or just exploring the central Bonn and now you are hungry? Let me show you a place that has both yummy food and something special to the city of Bonn! And that special thing is Bönnsch! If you’ve ever wondered if Bonn has its own beer, like Köln has its own– Kölsch… Well, we have one and it is served in a glass with a unique shape! :) And of course, there are also a number of dishes you can choose from. I’m sure you won’t leave with an empty stomach. You can try something popular in Germany, namely Kartoffelpuffer, a potato pancake! If that intrigues you, you should run to Bönnsch!
And it’s here: Sterntorbrücke 4
Restaurant “Gagava” (Köln) by Klaudia İnanç
I’m sure you’ve already visited the cathedral in Köln (“Kölner Dom”). Maybe you’ve even been there many times, but still don’t know what and where to eat? I always have the same problem and end up trying new places. Recently I found something that I want to share with you! It is Gagava, a restaurant located in Köln Arcaden, a shopping mall. They serve a variety of dishes, but I recommend anything with their pasta! It was something my stomach needed! 😊 I added a photo below, but it doesn’t do justice to the creamy texture… If you get a meal with pasta and chicken, you’ll also get a salad, which goes best with a lemon and pomegranate sauce! 😊 I hope I convinced you to try it out!
