Using its central research topic, the BCDSS particularly wishes to raise awareness of issues of asymmetrical dependencies through debates on historical and current dependencies, and to adopt innovative solutions in order to foster equality and diversity.
Our Mission
At the Bonn Center for Dependency and Slavery Studies we are committed to equal opportunities for all who work here and to the promotion of sustainability. We strive to ensure transparency and open doors across hierarchy levels to enable effective communication between all of our members.
We celebrate diversity and gender equality, and are dedicated to creating an inclusive and sustainable environment and fair treatment for all. We attach great importance to fostering a multinational community.
We are determined to achieve a balanced ratio of genders in all of our administrative and academic branches. Therefore, we pay attention from the bottom up when employing new faculty members.
We promote a family-friendly working environment. Special support is given to groups likely to face structural disadvantages, like early career women, non-binary people, people who are likely to face discrimination on grounds of racial or ethnic origin, religion or belief, and physically challenged researchers.
We are committed to raising awareness to prevent discrimination.
